Driving Range Development Update
Groundwork has now started on our new driving range. This image pictured below shows the base of one of the three new target greens. On top of this will be a layer of granite dust then a cushion layer and then astro turf. This is called the Professional system from Southwest Greens and is the best available and is why it is used for the practice facilities of many of the top players in the world. Behind the green is the lighting housing, one of eight in the outfield so that the target greens are lit perfectly for practice after dark.
We are also in the process of extending our practice putting green (one of the ponds adjacent to the existing putting green is being filled in). The photograph pictured below shows the putting green extension which quadruples the previous area available. The photo shows that the green has been brought to a fine tilth and has now been seeded with a seed mix used on the finest putting surfaces in the world. It is hoped to open the new green at the end of September 2012.
The driving range is currently not available for use, although the existing putting green is still in open. We do have an excellent short game practice area available for members, hotel guests to have lessons. We will also have practice nets available for a pre-round loosen up or full swing video analysis.
