GOLF Pro-AM SUCCESS AT ABBEY HOTEL

The 4 star Abbey Hotel Golf and Country Club in Redditch, near Birmingham, was pleased to host its first ever golf Pro-AM on Thursday 24th June.

Mark Mouland, a former European Tour winner, stole the show winning overall on the day with an impressive score four-under-par 68, distancing himself from the chasing pack of Iain Powell (Menzies Welcombe Hotel and Spa) and Thomas Rastall (Sleaford Golf Club).

This prestigious event sponsored by Molson Coors, was organised by the Midlands PGA. 18 Golf professionals from around the Midlands, plus 54 amateur players took part in the match. Following a shotgun start the players enjoyed 18 holes on another stunning summer's day on the Abbey Hotel's Par 72 course. After a delicious lunch at the hotel a prize giving ceremony awarded the winners a professional prize fund of £2500.
Overall the day was a huge success thoroughly enjoyed by all players. Peter Coyle, account manager of Molson Coors, thanked the Abbey Hotel, commenting, "a wonderful day at the Pro-Am. The course was great and the weather brilliant, players had a tremendous day".
Built in the late 1970's the Abbey Hotel's golf course has matured into a fine, championship standard parkland course measuring over 6,500 yards. Designed by Donald Steel, one of Britain's leading course architects the course has been extensively upgraded and lengthened in recent years. The course now regularly hosts county matches and high profile corporate days. Photographed above Graham Brown of Molson Coors, Mark Blake of The Abbey Hotel and the winning pro Mark Mouland.
